Snow Day

We've had a couple of good snow days this year. The kids love it!! Bart and I are pretty big fans, too. I love that Mac is wearing Sydney's purple scarf with his camouflage boots. When you live in South Carolina, you just have to make do with what warm clothes you have.

Who's that girl?

Okay, I am usually pretty together, but not today. After getting the kids situated with breakfast, I looked at my calendar to check out what we have for the week. Apparently, I didn't look at my calendar the last half of last week, because I missed Mac's 3 year well-check and my father-in-law's birthday!! Who is this woman living in my body??

If you have seen Up In The Air with George Clooney, about ten years ago I was that recent college graduate dressed in a navy suit ready to take on the world. I had it all planned out, be married to cute, fun, smart, Auburn fan husband(did that at 22), work for five years, Junior League, have baby, stay at home with baby, more Junior League, volunteer everywhere, have another baby, volunteer some more, drive kids all around town, etc... Now, here I am dressed in my new uniform, jeans and white or black shirt with vest. I am enjoying every minute with my little ones, but they are growing up and will be in big school before I know it. That girl in the navy suit is long gone. (Actually, the navy suit is still in my closet, but the shoulders will need a good dusting). I don't think I will plan out the next ten years. I am to work on focusing on the NOW with them. Either times are a changing or I am growing up!

Christmas Program

The Christmas program at our school is such a special event. Since Sydney is a "big kid on campus" (the oldest group - K5) they have all the big parts in the program. They performed twice. The first day she was an angel and the second day she was a "big tree." The second day she had a few lines, and we could hear her loud and clear. Mac didn't get to participate this year, but we are anxiously awaiting his debut as a shepherd next year. This year he sported a Santa hat in the front row with his class. Shaving with Daddy

Every morning, Mac sits on the counter and watches Bart shave. It is their special "guy" time. I bought Mac one of those kid shaving kits for his birthday and he tried it out with Bart.

Now, we have to really hide the real razors!

Happy Birthday Mac!

My sweet little boy is three years old. It is hard to believe my baby is three!! I am head over heels in love with him. I honestly love everything about him. Don't get me wrong, he knows the right buttons to push to send me over the edge, but I cannot get enough of him. I told someone the other day that I think he is the funniest, cutest, smartest little boy in the world and I love his morning breath. Can you tell I am his momma? Only a mother would say that about her little boy.

He has been so excited about his birthday and opening presents. I know Christmas will be very exciting this year.

My little violinist

Sydney has a new activity this year, violin. It was all her idea! I decided to jump on that idea and help her pursue this interest. I so wish I could play a musical instrument. She is learning to play by way of the Suzuki method. Parental involvement is instrumental in this method. So much so, that I had to rent a violin for the first six weeks to learn the proper way to hold and play the violin. Sydney is loving it. I am so proud of her and her motivation. She is really doing a great job. I love to see the look on her face when she learns something new.

 

 

Happy Halloween!!!

We had a great and very busy Halloween. We managed to fit in the church Fall Festival last week, pumpkin carving, school parties, a violin concert at the Children's Museum and trick or treating with our neighborhood friends. Mac and Sydney had a blast. Mac was Buzz Lightyear and an Auburn football player - he couldn't wear a one-piece outfit to school. Sydney was Hannah Montana and Cleopatra, because she is a girl and us girls are entitled to change our minds. Granny joined in on all the festivities and made them that much more special for our little ones.
